Snail Fact!

Some species of snails can hibernate for up to three years when environmental conditions are unfavorable. During this time, they seal themselves inside their shell with a layer of mucus that hardens into a protective cover called an epiphragm. This allows them to survive long periods without food or water until conditions improve.
